I would like to pose some questions and anyone is invited to answer. Why do they call America "Land of the Free", what exactly does freedom mean and when it earned it's nickname was it a joking matter muttered under a breath with a sarcastic tone or was it a tride and true statement spoke with passion? America is changing, we all see it. Some for the good, some for the not so good. As far as President Obama is concerned, his victory by a mandate was an outcry for change. A definite change that was needed. However, on his shoulders lie the carelessness and ignorance of an eight year plight of incompetent and coked out dictator. As many laws and as much privacy that had been violated, I would have wished to have seen people cry out with rage for the injustice that we suffered. We as a people did not cause 9/11,our governments meddling in affairs which do not concern them, did. So why a war on terror. Because it is an idea. There is nothing physical, tangible or present. But with twist of the media and paper planes in the pockets of media moguls, terror has a face, has a purpose and has millions of people looking for some sense of reality and what was given to them was lies, mistrust and skewed reality. Now we have the N.S.A. Homeland Security and various other agencies which are here to supposedly make us safe. From what I have seen and experienced, "Safe" is kind of a funny word considering, they will take your freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of though, freedom of action. If you do not agree with what some leaders are doing you are branded a terrorist. Why? Because free thought is looked down upon from some aspects of a popularity contest. If you understand why 9/11 happened and try to see both sides, trying to maintain a balance in order to create a peace, you will be branded a terrorist. Do I condone what happened. No. Absolutely not. It saddens me to think about it, however, I can also learn from it. Knowing the difference between a Palastinian, Jordinian, Afghani, Pakastani and Iraqi, makes me a little more worldly. I will not judge anyone by their speech or skin tone. To this day America has a bad rap with ethnicity and equality. They may have figured it out in Washington, but there are towns that still don't have digital! LOL. Anyway, I digress. It seems that the ways to make it now are few and far between. But that is just for those born here. Those who were not born here have just as much right to be here as we do. Something tells me some have bled more and seen more pain in one year than any of us will in one lifetime.
I was watching a movie called "The Visitor". If you get to watch this prepare to be pissed. This happens on a daily basis and because we do not see it, we do not care or at least do not feel inclined to voice out. It is a form of slavery. They detain these people against their will and for what purpose? They work, they feed their families and they go home. Quietly and out of the way of mainstream facets. If you feel that immigrants are the ones to blame for economic crisis, you might want to talk to Wall Street or even elect government officials. If you research you will find that governmental offices in history made less than someone who worked at McDonalds. It was supposed to be service to country. A sacrifice. I would love to see a Senator do what I do and survive. Won't happen, but it is a nice dream. That there should give you a glance at what our "freedom" boils down to. Money. Once again if we are not making the government money, we go to jail. We are not worth anything. As long as we keep stuffing uncle sam's pockes with green we will get left alone. There is another scenario that plays out like that. Mobs. If you have ever seen the Godfather II. A street was run by a Don who wanted money to keep people safe and working, however, never returned the favor when money was collected. It really feels like that sometimes. I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Now, here is something that you might find interesting, if you have read this far. I was mildly uncomfortable while watching Transformers 2. There were two characters two Jettas or something like that. Who through out the movie never really had any main role in the film, I am thinking to just add fluff. Now, the funny thing about this movie is that Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee and one other transformer are pretty straight forward neutral as far as robotic ethnicity goes, however you have one robot who sounds English and then you have the twins: wise cracking, bucktoothed, big eared, uneducated and for me really kinda uncomfortable. It was a social experiment, when the twins came on screen and did their slapstick and spouted off some cuss words the audience busted up laughing, except for me and the black family in front of me. I was actually kind of taken aback by it. I did want to post the question of: Am I stereotyping? I mean, to be honest, they resembled no real person, and they were green and purple at one point, but their actions and dialogue resembled that of some stereotypical movie bafoon hoodrat duo. (not sure if that is a slur, heard it recently and thought I would put it to use. Let me know).I kinda felt it was a subtle racism. That they needed fill characters and put them in to appease another demographic or just try to represent a demographic. Which if that is the case, it was done poorly.
This is why I don't write in very often. So many questions and so many thoughts it all becomes a jumble after a while. So if anyone does go see Transformers or The Visitors let me know, we can talk about them. As far as any other questions, comments or concerns let me know. I want to see things from another angle.
Thank you for reading, if you got this far, you are a trooper!
